History / Notes

Manasseh was the elder son of Joseph, born in Egypt, blessed by Jacob but with Ephraim receiving the greater blessing (Genesis 41:51, 48). The name also refers to a wicked king of Judah who repented (2 Chronicles 33). The name means causing to forget, because Joseph said God has made me forget all my hardship.
