Hunain is the name of a valley near Mecca, and it is most famous for the Battle of Hunain, which took place in 8 AH (630 CE) shortly after the Conquest of Mecca. It was a difficult battle where the Muslim army, for a time, was surprised and began to retreat, but with the steadfastness of the Prophet and a few companions, they rallied and achieved a decisive victory against the tribes of Hawazin and Thaqif.
