History / Notes
A young Ansari companion from the Khazraj, son of the chief Bara ibn Marur who was the first to die facing the Qibla in Medina. Bishr was poisoned after accepting a gift of a roasted sheep from a Jewish woman from Khaybar after its conquest (7 AH). The Prophet ﷺ prayed for him as he died. His death led to the permissibility of Qisas (retaliation) against Jews for murder.
