History / Notes
An Ansari companion from the Aws tribe. He was captured by the Quraysh after the disastrous Battle of Bir Maunah and taken to Mecca. He was executed in retaliation for Qurayshi leaders killed at Badr. Before his execution, he prayed two rakahs, establishing the Sunnah of the prayer of the one in dire straits. His death led to the Prophet ﷺ seeking retaliation through a raid.
