History / Notes
The elder brother of Ali ibn Abi Talib and cousin of the Prophet ﷺ. Leader of the second migration to Abyssinia, where he eloquently defended the Muslims before the Negus. Known for his generosity and resemblance to the Prophet ﷺ. He returned to join the Muslims after Khaybar. He was appointed commander at the Battle of Mutah (629 CE) and was martyred there, having his arms cut off. The Prophet ﷺ said Allah replaced them with two wings to fly in Paradise, hence his title Al-Tayyar.
