History / Notes

A leading figure among the Ansar from the Banu al-Harith clan. He was the father of the great tabii scholar, Said ibn al-Musayyib. He fought alongside the Prophet ﷺ at the Battle of Uhud and in subsequent engagements. Known for his piety and scholarship, he was among the select group of Ansar who collected and taught the Quran during the Prophets lifetime. He passed away in Medina during the caliphate of Uthman.
