History / Notes
Adonijah was the fourth son of King David, who attempted to usurp the throne from Solomon as David lay dying (1 Kings 1-2). He was supported by Joab and Abiathar but was ultimately pardoned by Solomon, only to later be executed when his request for Abishag suggested continued ambition. The name means Yahweh is my Lord.
